I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor. I received my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and School Counseling from Our Lady of the Lake University. I completed all doctoral requirements, but my dissertation, at Texas A&M in Education Administration with a concentration in School and Professional Counseling. 

​

My areas of interest include chronic disease management, mood disorders, trauma, self-esteem, stress management, vocational counseling, relationship issues and work injury.  

​

I currently provide psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples.  My treatment style is solution focused, systemic and cognitive behavioral, with supportive therapy for individuals, couples and families.

​

My experience as a practitioner includes, Special Education Teacher, Elementary and High School Counselor for special populations, Child Custody and Social Studies for adoptions and custody, Program Coordinator for Chronic Pain Management and Functional Programs for worker compensation clients.  I have been a practitioner for 30 years and I continue to enjoy helping others.

I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of diverse clinical experience.


I earned my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (1996) and my Master’s in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University (2002). My career began at Child Safe, supporting children and families affected by sexual abuse, and since then I’ve worked across a wide range of settings including juvenile justice, residential treatment, medical social work, addiction services, geriatrics, and immigration detention.

​

Currently, I provide therapy to children, adolescents, and adults at Nueva Vida Behavioral Associates and also offer in-home counseling for older adults through GainWell. My clinical approach is rooted in the bio-psychosocial model, emphasizing each client's strengths to foster healing and growth in a supportive, personalized way.

​

I’m trained in multiple therapeutic modalities including CBT, REBT, Trauma-Informed Care, and Psychodynamic Therapy, and I also serve as a Licensed Clinical Supervisor for other clinicians.

Specialties include: ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, family conflict, domestic violence, grief, severe mental illness, and couples counseling.

Using a blend of Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and Behavioral Therapy, I work with children, teens, and adults on challenges including ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, ODD, impulsivity, low self-esteem, stress, and family conflict.

Daniela Salinas, LCSW, earned her Master’s in Social Work (2018) and Bachelor’s in Psychology (2012) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Since 2013, she has supported individuals navigating workers’ compensation cases, with a strong focus on case management and client empowerment.

​

Daniela has also contributed to local research on homelessness and collaborated with community leaders, including State Representative Diego Bernal, to advocate for social needs.

​

Her specialties include: chronic pain, social services, young adults, employment resources, empowerment, and situational therapy.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from UT San Antonio and a B.A. in Psychology from Texas A&M–Kingsville.

​

My experience includes group therapy in partial hospitalization programs for mood, anxiety, and eating disorders, as well as inpatient psychiatric care with military personnel. I also work with issues related to LGBTQ+ identity, relationships, parenting, self-esteem, and career challenges.

​

I provide therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults using a blend of solution-focused, CBT, DBT, and strength-based approaches. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients feel heard and supported in their growth.

Elizabeth Quan, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience serving the San Antonio community through work with trauma, substance use, severe mental illness, homelessness, and crisis intervention.

She supports individuals navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, emotional regulation, and accessing mental health care and community resources. Elizabeth’s goal is to help clients not just survive, but thrive—building stronger lives and relationships.

Her approach is personalized and strength-based, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Geoffrey joined R Family Medical Group in 2020. A San Antonio native and Holy Cross High School graduate, he earned his BSN from the University of the Incarnate Word (2005) and his MSN from UT Health San Antonio (2009).

Board certified by the ANCC, Geoffrey treats children, adolescents, adults, and older adults for a range of mental health conditions. He brings over a decade of experience in both hospital and outpatient psychiatric care.

He believes true wellness requires alignment of both mind and body, and is passionate about supporting holistic mental health.

Dr. Laura Avila is a clinical health psychologist with a PhD from Northern Illinois University and a health psychology fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center. She also holds an M.S. in psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her expertise includes sleep disorders, chronic disease management, geropsychology, weight management, mood disorders, and trauma.

Outside of work, she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and four children.

With over 20 years of counseling experience in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings, I hold a Psychology bachelor’s from UTSA and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University. I’m passionate about helping clients grow and improve their lives.

I specialize in Spanish-language sessions, marriage counseling, substance abuse, chronic pain, occupational challenges, and mood stabilization. I work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples using CBT, systems, and solution-focused approaches.

​

I’m an LPC-Supervisor, MFT, and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and I also lead seminars on diagnosis, substance abuse, and relationship improvement. I currently accept most insurances and EAP referrals.

Monica has worked with Nueva Vida since 2013, serving adults with chronic mental illness, dual diagnoses, PTSD, and behavioral disorders. She’s known for her open-door policy, creating a safe, supportive space for clients in need.

Sergio Villarreal is an LPC-Associate (under supervision) completing his final licensing steps. He earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UTSA (2022) and is certified as a bilingual, bicultural mental health counselor, serving the Hispanic community. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a sociology focus.

​

Before counseling, Sergio served 22 years in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger and Infantry Officer, including multiple deployments and advisory roles in Colombia and Afghanistan. His military and research experience, including work on PTSD and war impacts, fuels his passion to support survivors of trauma across cultures.

​

Sergio also holds two additional master’s degrees in Justice Administration and International Security and has published recognized research on Afghanistan and insurgency.

I’m Amalia M. Garcia, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in counseling psychology from Texas A&M International University. I’m passionate about helping people heal and change, believing they are the main characters of their own stories.

My approach is person-centered, building strong therapeutic relationships and using CBT, ACT (including mindfulness), and solution-focused techniques. I provide counseling in both English and Spanish.

I have been working with adults, older adolescents, and couples for close to three years. I have particular experience with military personnel, veterans, and military families. In my work, I facilitate a positive outlook, help clients gain personal insight, and personalize treatment based on the individual. I work with depression, anxiety, life transitions, OCD, trauma, and ADHD. My experience growing up in New York City and also speaking fluent Spanish, have prepared me to work with people from a variety of backgrounds. I am currently enrolled in a year-long hypnotherapy training and in my spare time I play competitive chess.
